Jun 2022 – PopX (Popular Culture Show)

  • Jun 2022 - PopX at the Nepean Sportsplex

A very large group of club members were ready and hyped for action with 40 tables of LEGO at the PopX show at the Nepean Sportsplex on Fri night and throughout the day Saturday and Sunday, despite the intense heat. Roughly 3,000 visitors went through two large arenas of Popular Culture items and our display was one of the featured “entertainments.”
The display spanned 48′ x 32′ (40 x 6′ tables) which included a variety of themes including, but not limited to an interactive GBC loop, Trains, Space, and various geekdoms. We heard many, many, many positive comments about all displays and how some of them seemed “new” to viewers, especially the excellent feedback on the mosaics that were part of our club’s June monthly challenge. All our hard work over the past two years waiting for shows to restart paid off.
The children’s Play Brick seemed to be popular (given the attendance on a hot summer weekend) without any incidences of any child (or adult) choking or slipping on brick, phew!
Attendance at the show was bright and colourful, with many wearing excellent Cosplay costumes, vying for attention along with our great builds full of colour, design, lights, movement and sound.
