Tell us about yourself:
I’m a 41 year old married AFOL who’s lived in Ottawa all my life.

How long have you been an AFOL (adult fan of LEGO):
I had some LEGO sets as a kid like the Space shuttle (1682) that I was fortunate enough to hold on to. I became interested in LEGO again in 2008 when I got the Christmas train set.

How did your interest in the hobby develop:
My wife and I started collecting and building sets for a few years in our apartment. Eventually we had to get a house so we could setup an entire city village and train layout in our basement.

How did you find ParLUGment:
I initially heard about ParLUGment by attending a local show in 2014 as a spectator with my wife. I credit Bricklink seller and group member, Andy M with planting the seed that encouraged us to join when my wife got more details about where the group meets from him when we did a local pickup.

What is your favourite theme:
My favourite theme is trains, but our collection of themes is actually really varied. I was inspired to build a larger version of the LEGOland train based on the existing LEGO set 4000014.

What is your favourite aspect of the hobby:
My favourite aspect of the LEGO hobby has actually been seeing how much fun my wife has building, sorting and displaying LEGO. Each year around the holidays we setup an ever growing Christmas village which is a lot of fun to do. Last year I got inspired to setup Santa and his reindeer on the train tracks.

What is your proudest accomplishment within the hobby:
In September 2018 my wife and I were very fortunate to have been selected to participate in the LEGO Inside Tour in Denmark. This was a trip of a lifetime for us, it truly felt like everything about it was meant to be. LEGO produced a Ferguson tractor set only for those 140 people that attended this tour in 2018, so I guess you can say getting a LEGO set that has a piece printed with my last name “Ferguson” on it is my proudest accomplishment.
